Keep On Moving

It was all a dream! (In my Biggie voice. Am I dating myself?)

I dreamed I was speaking before a graduating class. My graduating class. There was a light on me. I could not see those in the chairs before me. I took a piece of paper out of my pocket that said simply:

Encourage Yourself.
I looked to the sky, took a deep breath and thought of my journey to that stage, to that podium.
“Bless the Lord…each of us being here, together, on this day. What I’d like to share with you is a bit corny, but it was approved.”

Chuckles filled the air. I took that time to encourage myself and all there with me graduating and those there in support of us and our desire to receive a piece of paper, tied in a ribbon, offering some kind of assurance that we would receive real diplomas at a later time.

“This may be the end of our educational journey together, maybe. It is also the beginning of something I pray will be blessed and wonderful.”

Soul II Soul’s “Keep on Moving” played softly as I spoke. The words. Keep on Movin’ don’t stop. No!” washed over us in attendance as I reminded those with me that in order that we were gathered together in that same space on that day, was no accident. Somewhere, somehow, we had been encouraged, guided to keep on moving. We kept moving. People moved to the music in their seats when I suggested that at some point, maybe to raise children or to assist someone toward their goal. We kept moving. Maybe somewhere along the line, we’d lost sight of our dreams, and put them on a shelf.

“Our being together today is more than a testament to perseverance, but a testament to our Creator that what HE built in us will spring forth. Once upon a time, I had it in my mind I would be an attorney. And life! My priorities shifted when I became a Mom. Working in a law firm would have to be sufficient because I wanted to be the best Mom I could be. There was a marriage, a divorce and other life situations that Sat. Me. DOWN!”

I shared that for my Son, I keep moving. That because of my Mother being with me in spirit, I better not be down too long! That life threw at me, at us pauses, enough that Netflix would have asked us ‘are you still watching?’

What I share with you today, as I dust off and get moving. I have requested to be re-enrolled in law school. 

To you dear reader, allow me to encourage you.

Military minded? Take the classes, pass those tests. Be all that HE made you to be for whatever branch of the military! And, if you must leave these states, come home healthy, happy and in one piece please.

Build that legacy! You’re wanting to house your people? Find that first property, drop that sweat equity and follow that yellow brick road. There is more than one property HE can put on your heart to acquire. You will encourage and mentor others along the way.

Did HE put in you to organize and plan trips to breathtaking destinations? Build the business, they will come! I may even be one of them! HE has so much more than our backyards for us to explore. Encourage others to see those places too.                                                                                                                     
Finish that Book! If HE gave it to you, get the outline together. Pull those pieces from their respective hiding places. Find a mentor who will show you how to set up your pages. Most of all, WRITE!

If ever in doubt, and you have not yet prayed about it, please do! 

Just in case, I hope you will keep in your pocket, the words of Soul II Soul (tweaked by me):

Keep on moving
Don’t stop
like the hands of time
Click clock
Find your own way to stay
Our time will come one day
